The Hormonal Acne Diaries: Welcome to the Series!
Almost all of my naturopathy clients tell me they struggle with 'hormonal skin'.
Our bodies are, in fact, full of hormones, with each and every hormone playing a really important role in maintaining health throughout our bodies. In order to achieve and maintain health, we'd want our hormones to be in balance. And this is key, because it's when our hormones are imbalanced that problems like breakouts, acne, and pigmentation start to creep in.
One of my roles as a naturopath is to get to the bottom of which of your hormones are not in balance, and why. And then, of course, get to work on rebalancing them.
There are four main hormones I'm really interested in when it comes to the health of you and your skin: oestrogen, progesterone, androgens (all sex hormones), and cortisol (your stress hormone).
